    Unauthorized payroll deduction, truck driver
Truck driver worked for a company for approx 2 weeks before quitting after getting screwed around while doing regional freight. He was in Georgia when he quit and had to come back to Northwest Indiana to where the company is based to return the Semi truck. When he received his last paycheck the company had deducted for the cost of fuel for him to return the truck. Is he responsible for the cost of the fuel or is the company because he is just returning their property? Also, the deduction was not authorized by the driver for the cost of the fuel. Can an employer do that?

    Hello s:

They're probably saying that he quit down south, so he has to pay for the gas because he wasn't working for them...

But, that's bogus... Tell the driver to sue his former employer in small claims court.
