My hair is naturally what I like to call mouse brown. However, I am a idiot for ever dying it. I want it back to normal because during the summer it would turn a natural blonde but with the dye in it it turns orange and brassy in the sun. Right now its growing out but slowly. Is there anyway to get rid of the brassyness which has formed or get rid of the color and to get my natural color back? I used to dye it dark brown. I got a girl to color correct it at a salon and its pretty good but now getting brassy because I go in the sun. I heard of Loreal Color Zap will my natural hair color come back with this? Or is this only for people who want to dye their hair again? What are my best options? Any help would be really appreciated.

Color Zap or ColorFix (or other similar agents) will remove artificial haircolor. However, the developer in the haircoloring has already changed your natural pigments -- it lightened them. You have to re-dye after using these products or your hair will be a very unpleasant, very brassy tone.

Brassiness can often be counteracted by using an ash or violet shade. Sometimes people use a temporary haircoloring like Roux Fanci-Ful rinse to keep it toned down. You have to use it every time you shampoo, but at least you don't have to worry about fading.

If you dye it dark and it's now blonde, you need to add some red to counteract the green in the dye.
