    Owner breaking rental agreemant
Hi, I am in dire need of answers!
I am a current college student, me and three of my friends signed a lease for a house to live in next year almost a month ago. Last week we got a call from the realtor saying the owner wanted to move back in the house.
My question is, since we did sign this lease, gave the deposit and rent money, how can they break the contract? Do we have legal rights to keep the contract and the place to live next year? Because it was almost a month ago there is no chance of us getting a place as nice, as close to campus, and as cheap as we found. I would just like some advice. Thank you so much.
    Thank you

Read your lease carefully, some states may allow a lease to be broken to allow the owners to move back in, but they may also allow for damages.

But other states will not allow it,

    Hello l:

Write a letter to the landlord. Tell him that you are about to move in, but that you're willing to seek other lodgings should he compensate you for breaking the lease.

Often times, we recommend that a tenant offer to pay the landlord two months rent to let him break the lease... I think the landlord paying you TWO months rent would be appropriate...

Send your letter certified, return receipt requested. Be polite, and businesslike.

PS> (edited) Well, I see that you aren't ABOUT to move in, but that doesn't make any material difference.
