Hi guys,
First question for me here, hope you can help! My washing machine currently drains into a sump pit about 10 feet away via a PVC pipe, which then drains into the county waste water line.
I regularly have to clean out the vent over the drain, however, as it get clogged with lint and as this is where the rain water also collects as it seeps down around the house I worry there might be a clog sometime during a hard rain that would cause flooding.

Pardon my ignorance but how could I redirect the washing machine waste water if I didn't want it going into the sump pit? The toilet is above a different part of the basement form where the washer is currently but the kitchen sink is above the washer and there's a pipe coming down which goes into the basement wall. (Don't even know if this is an option).

Hope someone can educate me a bit on what I might need to do!

OK! You can cut in a sanitary tee and trap on the kitchen drain line only if you vent the washer. Also it's a good idea to install a cleanout tee in the kitchen stack above the stand pipe. You may run a vent up and revent back in the attic or to a dry vent if one is handy. Another option would be to install a AAV,( Air Admittance Vent) just behind the trap. Good luck, Tom

Tom's answer is certainly on the money but are you sure your old sump pump pit drains into the sewer line? You may have a 2nd isue to deal with.
