It depends on why you lost custody. Please share some details.

As Steve said it depends on why custody was lost and the terms of the new custody order. Generally when custody is transferred from one parent to another its because of unfitness. So the court may list conditions the losing parent has to meet to regain custody. For example, if the parent is an alcoholic, the court may state that she has to remain sober for 2 years before she can regain custody.
So we need to know the circumstances and details to be able to advise.

I lost custody because I hit my child and the police was called and the father and stepmother blew it up to something big. When I grab my daughter from running out the house my ring scratch her, so they said I abused her but I was never charged I had to do domestic violence classes and parenting classes, I have no record of neglect or criminal this was in 2004, my child has been wanting to come back for the longest, how do I fight to get her back? Or can I get her back?

You said you completed the domestic violence and parenting classes. There have been no rereats of problems since? You currently have a visitation schedule in place, is it supervised or unsupervised?
If you have had unsupervised visitation without problems, then certainly, you should file in your local Family Court for a change in custody. I would strongly advise that you retain a attorney to do so, especially if the father had retained an attorney the last time.
An attorney can prepare your case properly and make sure the facts are all reveiwed. The judge will also listen to your daughter, but he may not give any weight to her desires.
