Hair Dye Disaster for the second time!
Hi I died my hair in Dec 08 a semi perm ebony brown in hopes of becoming a rich brown, my hair was an orangy brown, I had blonde bleached highlights in the summer and had it covered with a med brown that started turning orangy brown by winter. I thought the semi perm would wash out, so I tried prell, baby shampoo and some areas faded however the area around my face still stayed jet black. I was so sick of the uneven tones I just died it soft black, to even it out and to cover my 30% gray hairs. Well I became sick of the black and 2 months ago hair my entire hair bleached! Big mistake it turn orange! The hair stylist dyed it twice a med brown and it wouldn't take. I became frustrated at the result and the next day I dyed it a semi perm light ash brown, Then a week later I did a med ash brown semi perm to help get some warmth, it so now my hair still had black pieces around my face and it was still a med orange brown. I was not going to dye it again, I started doing multiple hair treatments, redken, pureology, biologe, ojon. I did them all, now my hair was coming back to life, I felt like it was softer and ready to do one more permanent hair color I thought, well its has a lot of copper and orange I should choose a med natural brown, so I chose clariol professional med rich natural brown and used a 10 volume developer, left in on 40 min and now my hair is JET BLACK! AAAAAAHH.. I BASICALLY DID A CIRCLE! WHAT DO I DO? HELP!

Hi shelia, yes, a disaster. Your hair must be particularly fried due to all the changes. Do you realize you only have one kick at the bucket as far as hair follicles are concerned. Once hair follicles are dead, they don't come back, which means no hair. I would suggest getting a really short cut and letting your hair grow back to normal colour, yes, with the gray, too. I have grey that actually looks blond and have never ever over processed my hair.
There is nothing I can say that will help except, get a short cut.

The color will fade. Your hair is too porous and probably too damaged to handle any more color. The porosity made the hair "grab" the color. Because it's so porous, you should expect a fair amount of fading within a week or two.
Hair doesn't "heal", and the products you used simply make it feel better. You should leave it alone until it grows out. Also, it's almost impossible to kill the hair follicles, short of a severe burn -- but you'd notice that, I suspect.

Hi thank you for your answer, my hair actually feels nice, its just really dark, and I have been noticing a lot of hair loss since Dec. 2008. Should I be using something for the hair loss as well? Thanks

Minoxidil is about the only product that really works to help thinning hair. It's available, generically, in 2%, 5%, and 15% solutions at most pharmacies. It doesn't require a prescription.

Yes abstinence from hair dye for a very long time so your hair can get back in shape. Although I don't think it will ever be thicker but there are shampoos to give the illusion of body and fullness. I would suggest massaging your scalp while watching TV, just get right into it. It feels good ! Deep conditions, alberto VO5 hot oil. Just pamper your scalp and hair. A good head of hair is a glory, it doesn't matter if it is thick and full. Just shiny and clean.
Good luck
