Quitting the contraceptive pill to lose weight?
    Hey all,

A little back story: I was put on Dianette for androngene problems (acne, facial hair) but due to it causing psychosis I was taken off it. However, whilst on the pill I gained about 20 lbs in weight. As I was sexualy active at the time I stopped taking Dianette I was put on Cerazette and continued to take it happily, although gained a further 15 lbs and my acne returned. I think I tried another 1 or 2 contraceptive pills in a bid to cure the acne and eventually settled on Microgynon. This did improve my skin, but I remained 35 lbs overweight despite being an active and healthy person (love the gym, always loved healthy / vegetarian cooking).

My doctor has taken me off Microgynon due to my having migraines, and has re-prescribed Cerazette. I am starting to dislike filling my body with so many random hormones and do not want to gain another 15 lbs!

Basically, my question is will I lose that 35 lbs if I stop taking contraceptive pills? (and obviously begin using condoms).

    Advice appreciated.

You might lose the weight... you could always go off them and use condoms for a few months and see if you notice any difference.

Keep in mind too, some of that weight gain may be from increasing your muscle mass if you have been hitting the gym quite a bit. The pill may lead to some fluid retention, which can add a bit of weight, and at least that portion will come off once you stop using them.
