How valuable is a signed 1896 dollar?
How do I find the value of an 1896 silver certificate signed by the treasurer? It is in very good condition. Could you give me a ballpark figure, say, $100+ or $1,000+ ? I would like to take it to someone in N. Fl since I do not want to send it off. How would I find someone reputable? Thank you

brown1978 - I need to k now the following information in order to get your questions answered;; Tell me what is on the front and back sides of the note that is pictured,ALSO can you make out at least one of the SIGNATURES?? There were two different ones printed at this time and there are four different signatures; IT makes a big difference in the values and also the condition of the note;; IF you will go to the following ,it will tell you exactly how to find the condition and grade of the note, I will be waiting for your reply;; ALSO IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD POST A PICTURE OF BOTH SIDES FOR EVERYONE TO SEE::THANK YOU F.B.E.:::

To Flying Blue Eagle: I don't see the "rate answer button" under your answer only under my "answers" so maybe I'm using this site wrong. However, I want to thank you for your detailed answer which gives me a plan to follow. First thing is to put the bill in our newly acquired safe deposit box and then figure out what I'll do. I will definitely contact you again and let you know the outcome. So... A+ excellent rating. I would be happy to click the rating button and make it official but the "help" section does not help. (suggestion/) Sincerely, Brown1978

Brown1978 - I HOPE that everything comes out OK for you:: I enjoyed giving you the information, and I'M glad tbhat you were able to post the pictures of the note for every one to see,and know that being a collector of paper currency and coins ,that it is part of our past history, from ancient times to the present.
I have told people that when I hold a coin or paper currency in my hand ,I WONDER BACK TO THAT TIME IN HISTORY AND I WONDER " WHO HAD THIS COIN OR NOTE IN THEIR HAND BACK THEN< AND WHO WERE THEY <AKING < A PRESDIENT< OR JUST A PLAIN OLD PULPER:: IF you ever do this ,you will see what I mean:: I used to go to a local actuion every FRIDAY night not far from here and one Friday night I got there early, I took some of my older coins to show the actuioneer And one was a 1739 ,that was in extreem good shape( CONDITION) ,he got so shook up over holding that coin that when he started the actuion he was so fabbergasted that he finnaly toldf the people there that the reason he was so shook up that he had held a coin in his hand that was dated 1739, the oldest coin he had ever seen that was not in a picture, I took some early 1800 and mid 1800, about 15 coins and a few old notes ( NOT LIKE THE ONE YOU HAVE) :: WELL IM GOING TO GET OFF <FOR NOW :: IF YOU NEED ANY MORE HELP <JUST COME ON THIS SITE AND TO COLLECTABLES AND HOLLER< GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS ::F.B.E.
