How Many Dates?
How many dates, do you usually have before you decide that your going to have a serious relationship? Is there an average number, or does it just happen?

It takes time to actually recognize a serious relationship from being just friends. I would say a month or more of exclusive dating before you could consider a relationship serious.

You'll know when the time is right. Just don't try to move it to fast and jump in head first.

Meeting to 6 months- Casual dating no promises, and no commitments. Have fun getting to know each other. If that goes well enough..?
6 months to a year- If alls good continue having fun getting to know each other with the option to be exclusive or not. Both partners MUST agree.
One year- Two years, you should be comfortable enough to learn to talk, listen, and trust, seriously, and no games. If not, your wasting time, and this is where you are real, or need to back off.
If you make it longer than two years you can seriously make better plans for the future.

It varies from person to person. I knew my boyfriend for years and years before we started dating. So there weren't a certain number of dates. Just one day we decided we wanted more, and took it.

Hi, on_myt_own!
It is a personal thing that will vary from person to person as well as from couple to couple. It also depends on the needs, wants and experience of the individuals.
At my age, and after many years of being divorced it would take me many months of seeing various aspects of the other person as well as they seeing and experiencing the kind of person that I am, before I would think about getting serious. Hopefully, the person that I would be dating would feel the same way. People that haven't been divorced might consider getting serious with someone sooner than I would.
After being burnt and hurt in relationships a number of times in my life, I proceed with a lot of caution in intimate relationships...
My parents dated each other for about five years before they got married. I remember my mom saying, that she didn't even really like my dad when they first started dating. But, things worked out in the end.
Thanks!
