Our home is 50 yrs. Old and has galvanized water pipes coming into it. The other day
We turned the water off coming into the house to repair a kitchen sink faucet. When
We finished and turned the water back on from the main source water was flowing
Fine in all areas of the house except a back bathroom which was an addition 10 yrs.
Ago so has pvc water pipes. On the other side of the wall the bathroom fixtures have
Running water. There just is no water pressure or water flow to the toilet & sink on this
Side of the wall so we suspect that when we turned the main line back on it may have
Forced some rust through blocking water into that bathroom. We think that we may have
To clean the checkvalve (I'm not sure what that is). We hope to avoid tearing the wall
Out to get to the plumming. Is there another way to clear this line? We do get a build
Up of water in the line that eventually flows out but only for a couple of minutes. So it
Seems that some water is trickling through. Any ideas on how we might clear this line without
It becoming a major & costly project. Thanks, Norma

It is a common problem...

Close angle stop valve under the toilet. Remove water supply line. Put towel over the valve. Turn water ON for few seconds. See if you get water flow. If positive, than your clog is either in: water supply line or toilet fill valve. Take it apart and clean it. Reinstall. Turn water back on.

Sink: you could have dirty Aerator. Aerator is located on tip of spout. Remove it. Run water w/o it. Reinstall aerator.

John, The second image is what is inside our toilet tank. We also do not have any
Water pressure or water flow into the sink or tub in that same bathroom.

Norma,

You have dirt in the lines follow Milo's instructions you be OK, First thing remove the Aerator from your faucet run the water see if you have good flow, clean the screen on Aerator and install once that is done then work on your toilet and we will till you how, and let us know, see the image below for the Aerator to remove it turn it clock wise, Thanks.

We cleaned out the bathroom faucet aerator already.. still no pressure or water flow.
We disconnected the toilet tank hose from the water supply line in the wall and
Slowly turned the water back on but nothing is coming out of the water line from the wall.
There seems to be a block somewhere in the line coming into that bathroom. There is
Another bathroom on the other side of the interior wall that has plenty of water flow and
Works just fine.

Hello Norma,

Close the water to the house, remove the angle valve from the line see the image below, put a towel on the pipe and ask some one to open the valve slowly see if you have water coming if it is coming then it is your angle valve clean it or replace it, if not you will have to follow the line to where it is branched off and find the clog, Thanks.
