How to evict a Roommate for non-payment.
I'm the owner of a condominium, I have a roommate that is not paying rent or it's portion of the utilities 50%, for the last 3 months. His contract expired a month ago, I gave him a 5 days eviction notice, an he is not moving out. The electrical and water service will be disconnected soon for non payment, since he is not paying. Should I continue paying for the bills and the utility company disconnect the services?
Also, he is bringing clients to do hair styling without my consent, can I call the police to report this unauthorized activities, what charges should I present? What the police can do about this? What other options do I have to get him out of my place?

First of all you should make sure that you are covered in your own contract for letting a room out to him.

The law will look at tenants rights as well as yours. Running a business that is not registered but receiving paying clients is illegal so report him to the police.

Go to get legal advice immediately and try to do everything without paying lawyers costs from your own pocket.

Once again you should have taken a deposit for at least a month and you should see if you are legally allowed to start changing locks etc.

    Hello Pena:

Unauthorized hair styling is NOT a crime, so the cops won't do anything.

If you live there too, and you don't want your utilities shut off, I'd certainly pay the bill.

You started the eviction process with the notice you gave him. Now you have to conclude it. You can find out how, by reading your states landlord/tenant law. We have a copy at the top of the real estate page on a sticky note.

You'll be able to sue him for what he owes you. In some states, you can include the small claim WITH your eviction.
