    Illegally Signed Lease in Texas
My wife and I just separated. We are in process of getting a divorce. We live in Texas. She needed my signature to stay in her apartment so she signed it on her own with out my knowledge. Am I still responsible for the rent even though she forged my signature?

Just curious: why would she need your signature to stay in the apartment? Why couldn't she just get a new lease in her own name?

I could be wrong, but I think you could be held liable unless you're able to prove that you never signed the lease.

Well maybe, ( got to make it a legal answer, since in law there may always be a way)

Once you found out she signed it, did you
    1. notify the apartment complex that it was not your signiture and it was forged.
    2. did you report it to the police and have a copy of the police report to show in court if the apartment complex sues you.

**** If you found out about it, did not report it to anyone and let some time go past after you found out, you are accepting it as valid since you are not disputing it, and could be held liable for it, if you found out and "allowed" it to stand.
