My stepdaughter is 23 years old and I have helped raise her. She has no father listed on her birth certificate and he has never met her or paid any support. We have found out that he passed away earlier this year. What do I have to do do legally adpot her?

You go to the Courthouse and file an application to adopt a adult child. It's as simple as that.

You may or may not have to show the father's death certificate but I doubt it because she's an adult and the Court should not need parental consent.

For adult adoption they need only of adoptee's consent.
