Expected to work through lunch with pay still deducted
As a seasonal employee of the state of NY, I work 4 ten hour days in which I am deducted one half hour from my paycheck for lunch. It is common knowledge that I cannot walk away from my job at any point during the 10 hour stretch. Sometimes I barley have time to use the bathroom. It is also common knowledge that if I make "waves" I will, most likely, either loose my job or have my position switched. Previously, and years before, the other workers shut down for the half hour but that was eliminated since lunch hour is the "busy time" of day and public outcries made the scheduled lunch brake a thing of the past. What course of action do you suggest.

Talk to an employment law attorney in your area.

There is a whistleblower's Protection Act, that would protect you if you were to file a complaint about the situation without leaving the company, so that should they find out that you complained your job should be protected.

The fact is the law prevents them from terminating you for calling on the labor law violation. You should contact an employment law attorney, they can help you the most with this kind of situation.
