    Looking for my army dad
Thank You for stopping and reading this...

I am 29 years old looking for my dad I have never seen and all I have is a little bit of information about him. He was in the Army in 1978-79. (the year I was born) I would like to meet him (no hard feelings. I don't think he knows about me).

I have a little girl on the way and would like to let him know we are out their. His name is Donald Hockerson (the last name could be spelled differently) and was in the Army. I believe he does have family in Ill. And I do know that I do have an older bro but don't know his name

Ok so he was a Staff Sergeant at either Fort Leonard Wood (Missouri) in 1978 or Fort Jackson (South Carolina) in 1979. That's all I have so far.

The full name is Cornelius Donald Hockerson or Donald Cornelius Hockerson and is around the age of 55 +/- 5yrs. He was at fort leonard wood, Mo. In 1978 he was believed to be from the St. Louis area. The spelling of Cornelius may be different. I'm mixed so he is a latino or african american man. Once again thanks for your help in advance.

Do you have any means to possibly check the correctness of the spelling for Hockerson? I will keep trying other spellings maybe we'll get something.

Checking records in Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Georgia to name a few there were families with the surname "Hockerson" but no references to any Don, Donny, or Donald's.

Without knowing certain personal information to locate him, this may be more beneficial to your search.

National Personnel Records Center, St. Louis:

The web site describes facilities and services; upcoming events; and records, including official military personnel files, medical records, morning reports, and unit rosters. It also has blank Standard Form 180, “Request Pertaining to Military Records,” for non genealogical requests. The center will provide to next of kin or authorized representatives information such as birth date and place, death date and place, and burial place. Most other information, such as age; dates of service; marital status; names, sex, and age of dependents; rank; present and past duty assignments; educational level; decorations and awards; duty status (active, reserve, discharged, retired, deceased); photograph (if available); records of courts-martial; and service number can be made available to anyone under the Freedom of Information Act.
