    Army Prep.
I am planning on enlisting in the army with in the next year and this is my question for you guys, I've been researching diet plans and exercise routines but so far I haven't found anything good. If any of you can suggest a diet plan to promote weight loss and an exersice plan that can help me improve my distance running, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Well to increase distance running, you have to actually run. Run father ever day and don't take breaks, if you can't stand to run anymore, power walk. And just eat healthy.

And if you aren't in shape by the time for boot camp, well you will be in shape by the time they are through with you, good luck, and thanks for helping the country

My husband is in the military and from what he tells me the physical part is NOT easy. My advice is to start training NOW! You can not be in a good enough condition for it. He is currently in a different province than me on course and called a few hours ago and told me he ran 8KM to the point where he literally ran right through hs socks and needs new ones! Be prepared to loose a lot of weight from a lot of running. Be prepared for long distance running at 4 am. Get a trainer and really work at it, it will be worth it!

With the kind of workout your going to endure you need to of course work your way up to this, so start now, running, jogging but you need to go for at least 1 hr. Add some aerobic and resistance training also. As fas as to what to eat in order to get in shape, You need to eat natural foods in smaller quantities, 3 oz. of lean meats, like chicken, turkey breast, loin type meats and fish, like salmon, tuna in water. Load up on beans and legumes, there great sources of protein and fat free. With each meal add lots of steamed or light cooked, baked veggies and some fruits. Cut out all white flour products and switch to whole grains like wheat breads, cereals, pasta and rice. Cut out presweetened drinks like soda and drink lots of water throughout the day. 3 Serving of low fat/skim dairy milk, yogurt and cheese will help in losing body fat. Snack on a handful of seeds or nuts, raisins. Cut out high sodium and high sugar snacks, fried food and fast food. Read the presweetened labels on the foods that your eating and stick to one serving sizes and check out the percentages of fat, sodium and sugar in these products. When a product says 20% DV in these areas, that's high, try something else. But the key is healthy food choices, smaller portions and exercise, this will presweetened great results that keep the weight off, and body fat percentages lower.

I was considering getting an early start with my tomato garden, here in the New York city area, by turning it over and adding a manure to the soil to be turned in at a later date. Does this seem reasonable, do you have any particular suggestions? Thanks for your help.
