Mysterious 2nd floor bathtub leak into downstairs kitchen
I have 2 bathtubs on my second floor, but only one leaks into my kitchen when used. I continue to use the sink and toilet in the bathroom with the leaky tub and I do not see any water leaking into the kitchen. I no longer use that bathtub- and no additional leak.

Why would only one bathtub cause a leak? I do not have any access to the plumbing in the upstairs bathrooms. Is there somewhere to start in the bathroom before starting to remove the sheetrock from the kitchen ceiling? There was a small spot on the kitchen ceiling and after I saw water dripping, I later drilled a small hole in the sheetrock to let out any additional water (no more came out).

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Actually it is an steel tub (house was built in 1984)- I have never felt it flex and we typically don't shower in it, its where we bathe our 2 year old. I have put towels around the tub when we bathe him, but the towels were always dry. Thanks!

And the toilet beside the small downstairs bathtub would only drain slowly...

Mysterious Bathtub Leak [ 8 Answers ]

My bathtub only leaks into the ceiling downstairs when my son uses the shower. He is a bodybuilder so weight and size could possibly be an issue, but I especially think it could be the weight in the tub. I have tried everything from re-caulking around the faucet and tub. I have tried putting...

Bathtub leak onto kitchen ceiling [ 3 Answers ]

I've had a tub which has leaked intermittently over the past 1.5 years. It was only recently that we found out it was the tub and not a leak in the roof with rainstorms. It has over time ruined some cabinetry in our kitchen. Yesterday I found that there was a continuous leak into our kitchen and...

2nd floor leak from the bathtub into the kitchen [ 1 Answers ]

We have a leak from our bathtub that leaks into the kitchen below only when I give my son a bath. Usually it starts when he is in the bathtub, but last time it didn't start until after he was out and the water was completely drained (it happened right after all the water drained out). It only...
