Mysterious 2nd floor bathtub leak into downstairs kitchen
I have 2 bathtubs on my second floor, but only one leaks into my kitchen when used. I continue to use the sink and toilet in the bathroom with the leaky tub and I do not see any water leaking into the kitchen. I no longer use that bathtub- and no additional leak.

Why would only one bathtub cause a leak? I do not have any access to the plumbing in the upstairs bathrooms. Is there somewhere to start in the bathroom before starting to remove the sheetrock from the kitchen ceiling? There was a small spot on the kitchen ceiling and after I saw water dripping, I later drilled a small hole in the sheetrock to let out any additional water (no more came out).

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Is this a plastic or fiberglass tub? Does it give or flex a bit when yoou step into it? Does it leak worse when bathing or taking a shower? Back to you, Tom

Actually it is an steel tub (house was built in 1984)- I have never felt it flex and we typically don't shower in it, its where we bathe our 2 year old. I have put towels around the tub when we bathe him, but the towels were always dry. Thanks!
