    Change a moen diverter
I was trying to change the diverter in a moen singl handle shower. After taking out the cotter pin that holds the diverter in, I could not pull out the diverter all the way. I am going to call a plumber now but I can't put the diverter in all the way to slip the cotter pin in. If I turn on the water with the diverter not in all the way It is spraying out of the diverter area. Is there a trick to reinstalling this diverter.

    Hi Dave:

They sell a MOEN cartridge puller to remove the cartridge... find at all home supply stores.. see picture. Otherwise trick to remove is to just really really yank hard.. harder than you would think. I have also installed the handle back on AFTER REMOVING THE CLIP and used that to gain the leverage needed to remove the cartridge.

In terms of re-installing the cartridge, hard as it is to believe, you just need to push and spin... really really hard. Then, as pushing, start to catch the clip. Once the clip gets started you will keep pushing and then gently TAP/DRIVE the clip down with a small hammer or a pair of pliers until it engages fully.

Try it out.. let me know how it goes...

I have a 12 year old Moen single lever faucet in my kitchen. About one week ago, it started showing signs of a problem. When I turn it on after it hasn't been used for an hour or two, the water pressure is very low, almost none. If I turn it on and off a few times, then the pressure gets better....
