I just had a baby 7 months ago. It took me three months after to get my period again. And I only breastfed for less than two weeks. Then I THINK I got it again maybe in the beg. Of December but I'm not even sure.
I want to get this done with and have the shot so I don't even have to worry about my period always being so late. But I haven't gotten it again and it's been a while. They said to wait until I get it to have the shot.

What's so bad about getting it now before I've gotten my period? I had three pregnancy tests already just to make sure. (I'm kind of a hypochondriac... ) and they were all negative including the one from the doctor today.

So can I just go get the prescription filled and get the shot in a few days even if I don't have my period? I'm sick of waiting and frankly I don't want my period to surprise me at a bad time.

Can I be super irregular because I recently had a baby? Oh and I am 19 years old and originally got my period when I was I think 15 almost 16.

You'll have to talk to your doctor about it. They may give you the injection just from the pregnancy test results... but it makes it difficult to determine when the next shot should be.

Odds are you are irregular still from the recent childbirth. Some women will go right back on schedule, others will have it come and go a few cycles at first.

Having the shot right after, or during, a period helps to keep you on schedule for the window of your next one, as well as making sure you aren't pregnant at the time you have the injection.
