You only use the wires that come out of the wall on the old round thermostat when you replace it with the new one since no new wires have been added. NOW if you have installed a totally different NEW system then you will have to change the thermostat cable if you need more wires for control.

I understand that the white wire goes to w, red to r, yellow to y, green to g, there are spots for those on the new, however on the new tstat o/b and w share the same spot. Where do I put the wire that went to the O on the old the old one on the new one?

That wire looks blue to me. LOL Land it on the O/B terminal and do the thermostat setup to adjust from O to B.

Page 17 see 0190 on this doc that came with your thermostat.

    http://customer.honeywell.com/techli.../69-2221EF.pdf

    Read advance setup

You need to READ the entire install doc since many different settings have to be made once installed. This thermostat does not auto adjust anything. System select and all else has to be done by you or it will not work correctly.

If I put the blue wire in the o/b spot where does the white wire go. Do I put them in the same spot?

See page 23 alt heat pump locations. Please read you manual. It will make it so much simpler for you if you read your manual. Wire according to number 6 and read what it says and look at the picture.

    White/heat(w) goes to "W".
