    water inside indoor heating unit
I have a 4 yr old 18 seer 5 ton American Standard with a heat pump with a variable speed fan. It is heating/cooling 2000 sq feet. Thing has been a nightmare because no one knew how to work it. Last year we gave up and bought plug in electric heaters. Past summer unit cut on and off every 4 to 7 minutes. Have not been using the unit this winter. Had water leaking from a vent in a bedroom. Went to the attic and found water in the airfilter box and the ducts were all soaking wet including the insulation in the plenum ( I may be calling that wrong. The box before you get to the airfilter) We called the ac man. He knew what he was doing. Got the heat working. The unit dried up. Tonight we checked it and it has water in it again and the insulation. We have been running the unit. They told us as long and we ran the unit it should not have water in it. Although I think we shouldn't have to run the unit to avoid water in it. This water was so much it soaked a bath towel. About an 1/8th of an inch deep. Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this? I am ready to yank the whole unit out.
    Thanks
    Tracey

If you are running in the A/C mode a lot of water will come off the cooling coil but if you are in the heat pump mode then no water should really show up. I advise you to get the guy back that new what he was doing and have him look at it again. It could be a plugged or restricted drain or the water could be from somewhere else like rain if you have some kind of a leak.
