Requesting a visa for a relative in columbia
My husband gave a friend a letter stating that he works for our businees & has guaranted employment in order for his friend to bring his mother to the states from columbia, unfortunately this is not true his friend does not work for us, can my husband get in trouble for saying his friend works for him when he doesn't?

Yes, he sure can. It's called lying, particularly if it's under oath - which very well could be the next request the "friend" makes.

Never a good idea to lie in Court or to the Government.

This could cause you and your husband a fortune if one of them receive welfare from the government. Consequences are the government will come after your husband for the sum he received, and if investigation results reveal that he doesn't work for him. This is very easy... all immigrants must submit tax return copies when they renew their greencards or apply for naturalization. Your husband may face charges for conspiracy and fraud for immigration benefits which penalty is $250,000 and imprisonment.
