    Hi,
If it is electric start it must have a battery. If you turn a key instead of pulling a starter rope, then it is electric start. The best thing you can purchase for thid type of unit is a "trickle" charger, actually I think they have another name. My area does not need snowblowers, so it is not common here. It can be used on mowers, also. It's only function is to supply a small but continual charge to the battery for the times in storage. They are rated at 200 - 600 milliAmps.
    Peace,

    1. First off when you turn the key does the engine turn over but just won't start? Or does it do nothing at all?
If its turning over pull the spark plug wire off and leave by the top of plug. Turn key (keep hands away from wire) see if a spark is jumping. If so take out spark plug put wire back on plug let plug touch motor, turn key. Is spark going across electo (bottom of plug)?
If not put in new plug.

2.If there is nothing when you turn the key and the battrey is charge you have to clean all the connection and make sure the ground is getting a good connection and everything is tight. Check for any loose wire at the key switch.(igination) You may have a bad switch.
If it is a bad switch and you can't find one you can go to a car parts store and get a push buttom one for around $3-$7.00
Also check your gas is it on? Is it old gas? Is it getting to the carb?
These are a few things you can do to before getting into any thing major. Hope it helps
