    First quickly read it. Then more slowly reread it. Note the headings for each section and the topic sentences at the beginning of each paragraph. Those are the main points and details under each main point. Write down each heading and under it each topic sentence. When you are finished, you will have the essence (or summary) of that chapter. Put it into your own words as a summary paragraph.
