Sony VAIO Running Vista Not Recognising My Camcorder As Hardware
    Hi,

My Sony VGN-NR38S isn't recognising my Canon camcorder when I connect it using the 4-pin iLink, therefore not allowing me to get video onto my computer.

I've tried connecting the camcorder and turning it on, but nothing. I've also tried opening up VAIO Movie Story and importing but it just says there's no camera attached.

Can anybody help with this please?

After trying (for hours) everything including keeping the camera plugged into mains power, using software to import, searching for drivers for the camera, new service pack for Vista, testing the sequence of turning on computer and camera, testing on 2 other machines, it all came down to this...

    A faulty iLink cable!

Tested it with a new iLink cable and it works great now. Unbelievable!
