The rear brakes on my van are locking up in the gravel,I replaced the pads last year thinking this would fix the problem but it didn't. I asked a friend and he said to put eas slide on the bolts. I am just asking for a second opinion before I take the wheels back off.thanks todd owens

That's good advice and a start.

If it is still acting up after that then you may need to replace the apportioning valve. It should be sending approximately 70% of the braking to the front of the vehicle and only about 30% to the rear.

I'm slightly confused. If your brakes are going to lock up, then they'll do it all the time but you said it's only happening when you're on gravel. Do you have any other issues with the van? Check engine or ABS lights?

. Clean and grease caliper pins with silicone grease.

. Ensure pads are OEM quality--lower quality pads are always problematic.

    . Change brake fluid.

If the problem continues, one or more rear calipers may need replacing.
