Hi! I have just purchased a slightly used home. The furnace I knew was going to be a problem but was hoping to get through the winter. It's very old and just two days after moving in the furnace has developed a problem that it doesn't turn off. I disconnected the thermostat and the furnace continues to run.

If the relay on the Fan Control Centre is fused would that cause this problem or is likely something else?

The furnace is a Clare-Hecla Model # EG125HB-6B.

Yes it could be the problem especially if the furnace blower continues to run. I tried to look up your brand and model number but no luck here. Is this in the Canada?

Sorry about the other posters comments in regards to someone stealing the silghtly new furnace. I got your drift but there are a few posters here that when they do not have a good answer for a guestion will try and change the subject for whatever reason.

Almost all parts on a furnace are replaceable but I cannot find a listing for yours as I mentioned before.

Convex Energy at 613-723-3141 almost any Keeprite supplier should have patrts for them.


Last but not least it is possible that you can get the brand and part number off the part that is defective. Most manufactures buy there parts from a vendor and most vendors sell parts also.

Sorry poster(s) I wasn't necessarily trying to be sarcastic. The new and old for me was the furnace a used from somewhere else and was trying to make light of it and poster you made me laugh in a good way! And I don't think of you or Havoc 1000 less for spanking me And yes Hvac1000 I can completely understand where you are coming from. A lot of my "answers" are questions to help get an answer from me or someone else a it speeds along the process .

HVAC I forgot to mention that yes I am in Canada. I read some other strings on several other forums last night and am now thinking it might be a problem with the gas valve?

The fan would not shut off if the heat exchange manifold was over temp. correct?

I was thinking to shut off the gas but thought that may not be a good idea as it would make relighting the pilot a little dangerous.

The fan control centre is a White-Rodgers. Type 8A05A-101 and I have no luck finding that online. It is SPDT Relay 24V Primary 120V Secondary 25V 38VA.

If it turns out to be the valve I guess I might as well bite the bullet and get a new furnace? If the furnace is as old as I think it is I imagine a tech who comes to replace the valve would red tag the furnace.

THanks HVAC! This says single throw but on the part on the furnace it says SPDT. The part number is correct though.

I just went by the part number. I would make sure before you order.
