    Used Vehicle Fire Loss
I had recently purchased a used vehicle- private sale. After the purchace I operatered the vehicle for less than 30 minutes and it caught fire. It was a total loss and the seller pretty much told me tuff luck. My insurance company was willing to cover the loss excluding the aditional equipment mounted on the vehicle that was worth more than the vehicle its self. Do I have any recourse in this mater?

    Hello smr:

Unless the seller gave you a warranty, you have no recourse against HIM. I don't know about your insurance company. It depends on your coverage.

What exactly caught fire on the vehicle? In order to hold the seller liable, you have to prove that s/he knew of the defect and purposely hid it from you. And of course, you cannot have bought the car "as is."
