    Kenmore Series 80 Dryer will not turn off
    Kenmore Series 80 Dryer - clothes dry but even with timer at the off position the dryer will run.

    If you open the door does the dryer turn off?

    Yes the dryer stops but as soon as the door is closed the dryer starts again.

    If your dryer has a start button you might check to see if it is stuck or electrically stuck in the turn on position. The next item to check will be your timer contacts to see if the ones that send power to the motor or motor relay a electrically closed or welded shut. If the timer goes through a relay then that should also be checked.

    I now realize that the dryer functions properly and stays off when the timed drying cycle is used.

    The dryer only conitnues to run in the off position when auto dry mode is used.
