Did it run before you put in new plugs and wires and did you gap our plugs properly before you out then in. Did you check your cap and the plug wire that runs off the center cap and goes to the coil? Let me know what you did and didn't due.

I lot of older cars and trucks used what is called a balist resistor. If it dies you are dead.

Did all of those things plus checked the fuel filters all checked out OK seems like I'm not getting any fuel to the carb now

Are you getting spark at the plugs?
Take some carb cleaner and spray it in the carb and see if it starts, if it does and then dies when the carb cleaner burns out,you have spark and it's a fuel problem.

Okay lets assume it was running before. To check for spark take a plug wire off and get it close to a ground so the wire can spark use insul pliers (No schock to you) and turn the truck over and see if there is a spark. If there is to check the firing order( no wires crossed) take out No1 spark plug( left front on v6 or v8 right front on straight 6. Now takes keys out in ignation. Hold long screw driver partially in #1 cylinder manually turn the motor over and get no one cylinder piston to it highest point towards you. Now trace the plug wire back to cap post. Carefully pull cap and look at the position of the rotor ( under cap)and that should line to the post of your no one cylinder and that wire and the rest of the cap wire post should be to the correct order of pistons V motors (sitting in drivers seat) left front is no1# then# and so on fight front 2# 6# and so on. Straight in 1 to six in a row Check your cap for corrosion on the inside metal tabs and check the for hair line cracks inside also. Now look at the rotor and see if its metal edge that spins around inside the cap is not worn bad or corroded. Look at the points under the rotor and see if they are burnt/worn and they open and close when you turn the motor over. The only thing left if you have sparks is the dwell on the points and the coil Or a balis resistor which can be even mounted on a fender well or fire wall. Now if everything in sparking it's the timing that's off. I could explain that by that's another long explanation. Remember the metal rotor edge must line up to the #1 post on the cap. The cap can only go on the distributor 2 ways to attach it. But will be 180 degrees in that one position. Get back and let us know bad fuel of fuel pump or fuel filter in carb or in line fuel filter

If you don't know what your doing get a hanes or chilton,s guide, sit down and digest the material then take it out to the vehicle and follow the directions. It will show you everything you need to get that vehicle running again , they work for me every time
