    Safesquid log, Windows Active directory
I have a linux ubuntu operating system. At work we all use windows, and are in a domain w/active directory. It uses dhcp. On the linux ubuntu computer I set up a web content filter proxy server. (We didn't do it on a windows PC, because there weren't any sufficient web content filers that were free that work well with windows) All the pc's are on the same network and subnet. The only problem that I am having is, in safesquid's log files it lists the ip address. We would like it to list the username and/or user's fqdn. The ip's are constantly changing, so it is extremely inconvenient to track the user's by their ip address.

Is there any log analyzer that works with squid, that would give me my desired output?
Or anyway to configure safesquid to do what I want?

Please be very detailed, for I am extremely new to safesquid, and ubuntu, pretend you are giving instructions to a kindergardener.

    Thank you in advance.

The only way to accomplish what you want is to enable user authentcation.
SafeSquid logs record both, user IPs and user IDs.
But since your user IPs keep changing, it will be of no use to use.
So the only option left is to use user IDs by authenticating their access.
After that, you will be able to use any of squid based log analyzers, like the ones mentioned on - Content Filtering - Proxy Server Sample Log Reports

You can either create local user accounts in the SafeSquid interface, or authenticate users from an AD / LDAP / Radius / POP3 / MySQL etc. with PAM.
If you have a small network, creating local user accounts will be a simpler solution.
    Hope this helps.
