    Adoption/ no dad
My daughter is 5 my husband has been her dad since she could talk. She knows no other dad and we want him to adopt. There is no father on the birth cirtificate. I don't know where he is I haven't seen him since she was 8 months. No child support. Nothing his family won't even talk to me... not that I care. But how difficult will it be w/o him to sign the papers? Or do I even need him?

Was there ever DNA testing? A support order? The State is also important.

If he has been recognized as the Father you may very well be asked about him and then have to seek his permission - which apears to be the case if his family knows of the child.

You can't just remove his rights, whether he visits and/or supports or not.

It is just harder and costs more if you can not get the bio dad and have him sign, There will be required search methods the court will require.
