    Desperate Sister
I have a 40 year old sister who is addicted to 1.Zanacs 2.Vicodine 3.Soma 4.Adderall and whatever else she can get, she gets them all at the same time every month and like 90 of each. Her husband also gets the same amount and since he doesn't take them he gives them to her. My mother who is not in good health at all and is 57 years old has on several occasions had to go the next town over at all hrs. to sit there with my sister so she can call 911 if she stops breathing and to take care of my niece and nephew. She has been through so many Dr.s because the family calls the Dr. and tells them what she's doing but she always finds another one! Tonight she is so messed up that her little boy called us crying because he couldn't wake her up and thought she was dead. The whole family is worried to death and desperate to get her help but she doesn't think she has a problem. If anyone has been through this and might know a way to make her see that she does need help please let me know.

You can try any number of things with an addict but the bottom line is they will only stop when either they hit rock bottom and something terrible happens to them or they have a severe medical emergency.Basically there is little you can do.I have been where you are and sympathize with your pain.
Your sister is consuming a lethal cocktail of drugs and she needs medical intervention.Below is a link I think you may find useful.Best of luck !

If the nieces/nephews are in danger or neglected, are you ready to take them in until your sister gets true medical help?

This addiction is causing her to do things which child services would greatly frown upon, and her husband isn't helping her at all, enabling her to continue down this path of destruction.

This type of behavior has become commonplace with addicts, and the medications are too readily available for the addicts, the feeding of the addiction is too easy.

If you are interested and in enough pain over this, seek help through Al-anon,Local contacts can be found online, where ever you are, they can assist you in making decisions regarding your sister and you don't even have to go to them in person, anonymity is part of the name, although they encourage attending meetings, the phone call will enable you to understand the process and where to go.

    Hope this is helpful,
