I don't know anything about it needing a code... I'm not an expert on electronics but something's thing I do when my electronics start acting up are these:
1. Check all the wires, since it's a bit older maybe the power cord is frayed or damaged or loose in the socket
2. Clean the TV... spray some compressed air or pass a vacuum over all the openings in the TV case.
3. Try another plug... maybe the problem is your wall outlet (or power bar) and not the TV
If none of this help just check back every now and then, I'm sure we have experts in electronics but some people only sign in every few days.

Obviously buying a new TV would solve this problem IRfixer but not everyone has money to do that at any time... plus why replace a TV that might just be plugged into a faulty outlet.. if you don't have any recommendations to fix this problem don't bother posting.
Also why a Sony?
