    Jet hole clogged
I have a problem with my toilet, it keeps getting clogged. I can see a red and white piece of plastic stuck behind the jet hole. Any suggestions on what this is or is there any way to get it out? Its hard to grasp and seems to big to pull out of the hole? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A wire coat hanger is usually my weapon of choice but I am concerned that you are seeing red and white specks. This is not normal build up or calcium. What material are your supply pipes?

The supply pipes seems to be plastic. Its not red & white specks , it's a flat, round solid piece that is just slightly bigger than the jet hole so I can't get it out. I can't get ahold of it in order to break it, can't think of any way to get it out whatever it is. Thanks for your response by the way.

You have no choice. You either break it up and get it out of there so the jet's clear or replace the toilet. Good luck, Tom

Are you talking about the hole at the bottom of the toilet sump area about the size of a quarter? Try a curved needle nose plyer.

I have an idea that I have used before. Dry all of the water out of the commode bowl, now use a wire, something like a coat hanger, bend a hook on the end about a 1/2 inch U now what you want to do is heat the tip of the wire and after it is really hot stick it into the piece of plastic, now let it cool, after you know it has cooled pull the wire, it should be stuck through the plastic and the U will not let it come out. Now you can pull the piece of plastic to the opening and you can use something to get it out. Me not knowing how thick it is it is hard to for me to say what to use, maybe scissors, or maybe a hacksaw blade (out of the frame) or you can use the heat again and heat a blade of some kind and trim small pieces off the plastic until you have it small enough to get out.

Please let me know if this works for you, there are others that will tell you it is not possible.

W\hy so defensive, Letme? I think it's a great idea if it works. That's what this page is all about. Thinking outside the box to get the job done. I like this solution. Tom

Worked like a charm! Emptied out all the water but used a soldering iron, melted it a bit and it popped right out. Think it was a cap for one of those toilet cleaners you drop in the back of the toilet or maybe the kid tried to flush one of his toys away :) Either way great tips and thanks to all who offered advice!
