Hello worker2
Where is the Transformer for a home AC unit by Carrier Model #FA4BNF042?
Which transformer do you refer to?
Accordingly to the Carrier information I could find on the Internet there is no transformer.

I assume that the model number you provided is for the condensing unit. Most split forced air systems only use one transformer and it would be located inside the furnace. If your systems does use 2 transformers then the second would usually be located either within the electrical compartment of the condensing unit or, again, within the furnace/ air handler.

Your unit is a new construction fan coil unit usually used with a heat pump or A/C unit. It is usually equipped with a set of electric strip heaters also.
In the top panel above the blower will be a circuit board and the transformer you are looking for plus various relays and other circuits depending upon the heater package you have.

I am not a great fan of them also since I did not like working in them in the cold weather. They save some serious $$$ on the utility bill as long as the repair costs do not eat up all the savings. LOL

Living in nortwest Indiana heat pumps are a rarity. I do have a hotel that I service that uses water-cooled heat pumps in about half of it's rooms and p-tacs in the others. I cringe when they call.
