Dripping Kohler Shower
I have a Kohler Shower (single controller) that is leaking. I replaced the cartridge but it continues to leak... I checked the water pressure in the house and it is 65... what am I missing?

65 is high but not high enough to cause a good fixture to leak. I would install a pressure reducing valve to get the pressure down to around 45 psi but you'll still leak. Where exactly is the leak, out of the shower head or around the mixer?

OK that means you cartridge is allowing water to get through even when its closed. Remove the new cartridge and grease it with silicone jel or plumbers grease and the leak should stop. Grease the inside of the valve body too. If it still leaks you make have a scored or scratched valve body

Does it leak 24/7 or just for a while after you have shut the valve off.

Please answer mygirls question. You grease the seals, they are the black rubber things on the cartridge. The valve body is the brass hole you stick the cartridge into.

You said you replaced the cartridge. Pull it back out and put grease on the whole cartridge(lightly), then grease the part that you took the cartridge out of . I agree with ballengerb, sounds like you may have a scored valve body. How is your water? You may have buildup in the valve body that need to be removed.

I will do that and check for buildup... I live in FL so our water has lots and lots of minerals. I will not be able to get to it until later this week so I will post if that does not work... thank you

When you pull that new cartridge look inside that brass hole, valve body with a flashlight, you will see the build up, if any, as a white crud.

On top of Bob's recommendation one other thing you need to do, when you remove the cartridge turn on the water for a few seconds it will flush any remaining debris inside the faucet, good luck.
