Is this the right procedures and protcol?

I was offered a job last week and I accepted and started working that following Tuesday...
The following week on Tuesday I was terminated... I was not alerted on what exactly I did wrong... no write up or displenary action what so ever... what strikes me is how the boss had the project coordinator call me over the phone and dismiss me... no pink slip.. no face to face conference... it was horrible... I have made calls repeatedly to every one that I had known to be in charge and no one was willing to give me the number to human resources in order to file my grievance... should I even have a grievance... my fiancee' s mother is a union rep and says I have a lawsuit on my hands should I even take it that far?? Or should I let it slide under the rug?

It depends on what your goals are, if you want to get away from that company without a mark on your record I think it would be best to walk away and go look for another job. Otherwise you could spend months filing a law suit, one that if you win most of the spoils will go to a lawyer, and your records then will show that you are the guy that will sue at the slightest hint of an impropriety.

If you are in the US, you let it slide under the rug. At most places there is a 90 day probation period where they can fire you for any reason under the sun and you cannot collect unemployment. You were only employed for 7 days.

Also, many states are work at will states, which means that you can quit with or without notice and they can fire you with or without notice.

Was there as asked a probation period, where you even a union member yet ?

If the union things you were not treated OK, you call your shop steward and file a grievence though the union.
