Hi,
I was convicted 6 yrs ago when I was 18. Paid the fine, probation and I paid to clear my record 2 months ago. Now I'm 24 and just got caught 4 shoplift in Macy, California. I have to appear in court in 30 days. I'm so scared now, will I go to jail this time because this is my 2nd time? This time the value is $145. PLease would someone please tell me what likely would happen to me?

I doubt it, my guess is probation and a fine again, or at worst maybe a weekend in jail to teach you a lesson. Of course I could be wrong since all courts are different but my personal guess is probation again.

Thank you very much for your answer, Chuck.
I could not sleep or eat for the last few days and just wanted to kill myself. This time it started accidentally and as I walked out of the store I realized I still had the items with me. I should had totally come back & return them but I just let my greediness took over my head at that time & kept on walking. Then I got stop by a LP guy... Can I tell the judge this whole story as showing I'm really remoseful & really ashamed of myself right now?? Will that help or just tell the judge I'd plead guilty and just wait for his decision??
I'm so scared that I'll go to jail this time. I'd read all your answers and it shows you have knowledge & experiences on this field. Can you please tell me have you seen any case like mine the shoplifters will have to go to jail??
Will the fact that my 1st time was 6yrs ago affect me this time??

Moral of that story... don't shoplift.
It depends what you stole, you say it was $145 worth of stuff. Its true you should've returned it but I guess when you've walked through the doors and haven't been caught you think what the hell but you were more than likely to get caught doing so. I agree with fr_chuck, you'll probably be slapped with probation or get a fine, all depends on if the judge has had his morning coffee!
You should be fine, just don't do it again...
