    Removing labels.
    What is the best way to remove labels from the back/bottom of new (painted stoneware type) dishes? Soaking takes too long & doesn't work that well...

    Hi, mnlady55!

    A single-edged razor blade used to remove the bulk of the labels and then some fingernail polish remover applied lightly with a paper towel to clean off the adhesive residue will probably do the trick.

    Have heard that using a hairdryer and heating up the glue and peel it off is another idea. Or cooking oil let it soak a bit , but the best thing I have EVER had is called "GooGone"! It works fantastically well! You can find it in grocery,hardware stores looking in theaundry aisle or ask the store clerk as it may be kept in several places. Not too expensive & lasts for along time! Good luck!

    If not time for a run to the store you might try WD40.
    It is kind of like that grey electrical/packaging tape,a lot of uses!

    Baby oil or cooking oil or olive oil should also do the trick.

    There tends to be two types of removeable labels:
    1. Water soluble like found on lickible stamps
    2. Press labels.

    For #1. Soaking in boiling to hot water works.

    For #2. The hair dryer.

    Leftover adhesive possibilities are Alcohol, WD-40 and Go-Gone and hot soapy water.
