    Refrigerator not cooling properly
I have a frost free refrigerator with the freezer at the top. The freezer does not freeze but does get cold. Ice will build up on the back. The bottom does not get cold at all. I did turn if off and uplug it for over 24 hours. A lot of water came out. I took off the rack on the bottom front and cleaned the coils and I removed the cardboard backing on the bottom back and cleaned as best I could there. I plugged it back in and turned it on. The fan does work but it still is not freezing or getting cold. This all started when the power went off. It has not worked properly since. Can this be fixed or should it just be replaced. It is a Sears Kenmore (20 cubic foot) and about 12 years old but otherwise in good shape.

This problem can definitely be fixed. Sounds like something got "fried" during the power outage. When you do get it fixed please invest in one of those surge protectors and plug your refrigerator into that. I have surge protectors on every single big appliance in my home as well as my computer and tv's and VCR and DVD players. The cost of a surge protector is well worth it considering the alternative of either having to repair the appliance or replace it.

Cinshra - First of all is to check your inside settings. Ifg OK go to the freezer section and remove items so you can get to the back panel, behind it should be a fan that blowes cold air down into the fridge. Sectionm , it may be all froze up at this location ( You indicated that there was ice forming at this area ( The fastest way to melt the ice here would be to use a hair dryer) IT does a good job
One cause of ice forming where its not susposed to is due to low freeon, another reason it could form ice on the back wall is that there is hot air getting into the freezer from a door seal .to check this take a real close look of the seal to see if it is torn, pulled loosedirty a needs to be washed soap and water{ This needs to be done at least once a month on both door seals, a seal gets dirty fast and then it will not make a good seal.:: Good Luck and GOD BLESS
