I am a freshman college student in a English class. There is this cute guy that I like and all I do is look at him and he looks at me. He gives me long stares but other than that I don't know if he's interested in me. I want to talk to him but I am a shy girl, I think he is shy and keeps to himself because the only person that he talks to is the guy that sits next to him. So how do I know if he is interested? Should I go up and talk to him? What should I do?:)

Go talk to him. Maybe just talk about the class you're in together. Walk along with him and ask what his interests are. He is probably more shy than you are. It sounds to me as if he likes you too.

I know you WANT the answer to be more creative... but life is pretty straightforward. Most of the obstacles that stop us from acquiring good things in life are obstacles we construct ourselves.

Shyness is character trait, it isn't a reality. You MAKE it a reality by letting it stop you from doing things that benefit you. It benefits you to talk to nice boys who seem to be interested in you. NOT talking to them harms you. Do you see that?

You see, the possible harm could be:

• A relationship that is supposed to start doesn't start
• A relationship that is never going to happen appears to be a possibility and you spend more and more time fretting over it, never finding out it's not going to happen because you never talk to him
• Whether a relationship is in the cards or not, talking to people is all we're supposed to do in life. Shyness stifles that, too.

So, sorry, simple answer. All fear should be mastered, and shyness is just a cute form of fear. Go for it. Talk to him. And no pressure when you talk to him, just talk.
