Reducing height of Kitchen vent pipe
I just had new countertops installed and want to add a soap dispenser. However the existing vent pipe (black pipe) under the sink is too tall. Is there any reason I can not reduce the size of the vent pipe to allow for a soap bottle to be placed under the sink? It looks to be about 3" in dia. If I can reduce the height, is it just a matter of sawing some off the height and recapping?

    Thank you for you time.

Show us a picture of the pipe. Is this an island sink?

    Hi Peggy,
Answer Harolds question about if you have a island sink, (a sink away from any walls in the center of the kitchen) and then tell me if your trap set up looks like this, (see image). Back to you, Tom

Rerouting the kitchen vent pipe [ 3 Answers ]

We want to put a window in our kitchen over the sink. After taking down the sheet rock, we noticed the 1 1/2" vent pipe is in the way. I am replacing a shower stall in my house and found that the 3" PVC vent stack in the wall protrudes slightly beyond the studs and is in the way of where the new pre-cast shower pan will sit.
