    Stupid Ex Boyfriend
Okay, so we broke up about a month ago. He took everything except the living room furniture. Well, I was fine with it because mine won't be delivered until this Saturday. Well, he refuses to pick it up until Sunday. I won't have anywhere to put my furniture on Saturday when its delivered. This is MY apartment that is in MY name. How can I convince him to come get the furniture before Saturday? He claims its because of work. I'm sorry but he works 40 hours a week, and makes his own schedule. I want his stuff gone before mine gets here. What do I do?

Call him right now and tell him that Sunday doesn't work for you (no explanation necessary). Remind him that you have been storing his furniture at no charge for a month. Tell him that you are flexible and he can come tonight, tomorrow or Friday. Period. Tell him that if it is not gone by Friday night then you will have no choice but to get rid of it yourself. Be polite but firm.

He also has my house key. Thought I'd throw that in.

Have someone lift the furnitures, drive it on his new place and leave on its front gate.

I don't have an extra $100 laying around, believe me I've thought of this.

Door knobs cost about $20 at Walmart and are easy to install, just give your landlord the spare key.

The lock is not on the door knob, it's a deadbolt.

Are they generally the same price? Either way, this does not help me make him come get his furniture.

Put his furniture in a storage facility, make the payments, and present him with the bill for storage, when he pays it, give him the key to get his stuff. In the meantime, change your locks.

I don't understand why you are playing his game. You have something he wants. He can get it when it is convenient for you or you can leave it by the curb.

You give such good advice to everyone else. Think about how you would answer this question if you read it on someone else's post.;)

I'm not going to do that because he would never pay me, and I don't enjoy wasting money. And if he doesn't pay me I have to keep paying it...

I probably wouldn't answer this question, since I don't know what to do myself.

Cherish, you are really making this harder than it really is. If he doesn't pay you, after one month, usually about $25, the furniture will go up for auction. You are only out 25 bucks and he is out a living room furniture set.

I'm not making this harder than it is... it's hard. Also take the fact that I would have no way to get his furniture there. And you might say "only $25" but where I'm at with past due bills right now, $25 is A lot of money to me.
