Is he (nearly) a sex addict?
My boyfriend claims to masturbate 3 times a day every day. Is that within normal range or is there something wrong with him i.e. medically?

Sounds like a very young guy who lets his little head tell him what to do.

Medicallly , maybe a sore hand, possible addiction issues coming depending on how long he has been doing this, and a real possible issue of problems having normal sex since he will get used to getting off only with a certain feel and touch ( his). I would guess he would be a teen who is only thinking of his personal pleasure at this point.

I have a friend who masturbated every day for over a year. This was when he hit puberty (and he was a late bloomer). I would say it would be "normal" if he was a teenager. I say "normal" because 3 times a day seems like a lot. He is probably exaggerating. If it bothers you, maybe try getting more involved with him to see if he lessens the daily pleasures. But only if you are at that point in your relationship and if you feel comfortable with it. I'm not saying sex, but maybe he is looking for more physical intimacy from you. This is just my suggestion. I have no idea what your relationship is like nor will I pretend to know. Just giving something that might help.

How old is he? How much time is this self entertainment taking, is it interfering with other things he should be doing? How's your sex life with him?

I think he needs a hobby other than abusing himself.

Well his drive is high... the only concern id have is whether he gets to prefer his hand over your touch. Personally, while I think some "personal problem solving" isn't a bad thing in itself, I think the ability to let sexual tension build is important in a relationship. If his performance in the bedroom is lacking, it's a problem. If he cannot hold you, touch you, be next to you without going mad, he needs to find a way to rechannel his energy.

There's no perfect answer to "how much is too much"... when a person with no drive is with a person with a similar drive, there's no friction or issue. When a person with a much higher drive is with a person with a much lower drive, there might be sexual incompatibility.

So... what are you worried about? That you aren't satisfying him? That his drive is too big? I know your question is "is it normal"... but "normal" concerning sex isn't easy to answer. Different people have different drives.

So get one layer deeper here... why are you worried? Thinking you are incompatible? New to sex and just unsure? Intimidated? Disgusted? What's your concern as it affects your relationship?

Are you having sex with him? If not, then 3x is not a problem. It may just be that he has a vigorous appetite for sex. If you are having sex and he still does that, then you are not enough to satisfy his urges. That's a problem, or will be in the long run.

Sounds normal to me unless he does it instead of eating/socialising or just "living life"

If he is a teenager, that is normal.

Very simple to answer this for you.
First, how old is he? ( sounds young!)
    Second, its normal.
    Done :-)

No it's normal, well... it depends on how old he is. A younger man yes. An older one I really am not sure.
