... wow. I think you should smack your doctor for making you panic. I just googled it and found out enough to say "YOU CAN STILL GET PREGNANT" it will be harder than normal but not impossible.

StaticFX is right. One of my good friends was also diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and told she couldn't have any kids. She has two. =)

Oh my! Your doctor saying that to you is really irresponsible. If you feel like this person is someone you can talk to you could try to stick with him/her, if not, it's time to change docs!

Of course you have the chance of getting pregnant with PCOS! Many many women do, you just might have to work harder at it! Often, PCOS results from Insulin Resistance, which can cause you to gain weight, have excess hair, acne, hormone imbalances...

There are a couple of websites that I think are really helpful when you're dealing with this issue. One is PCOS – Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome which can give you more details about, and there is a testimonial area with lots of women who have gotten pregnant.

Also, there is the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association PCOSupport™ which could probably direct you to another doctor who is willing to encourage rather than being insensitive and YUCKY!

I found out I have polycystic ovaries about nearly a year ago and we are trying to conceive.

I recently bought a book about it and there are so many things you can do to help yourself. I have been getting very painful cysts and I have been on the diet for nearly 3 weeks and feel a lot better already. Please note I do not need to lose weight, it's just not eating certain foods and taking vitamins that can help you. My acne has cleared up in 3 weeks too!

It looks like I have ovulated this month and my boobs hurt a week and a half before my period, so you never know.

You can get pregnant with polycystic ovaries and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You may have to persevere, but I think it makes you a stronger person for it.

    Good luck

My friend has polysistic ovarian disease, she has two kids and is pregnant with her third. She got pregnant using the pill, she also only has one ovary and numerous other medical problems.

Don't worry, it may be harder, but yes, you can still get pregnant. :)

Having polycystic ovaries makes pregnancy more difficult but not impossible. There are several treatments and options available. A medication used to treat diabetes called Glucophage (Metaformin) has shown some promise. Personally, I would talk with a OB/Gyn, I am assuming it was your primary care doctor, or a fertility specialist and get a second opinion.

By the way my mother, myself and my daughter all have PSO syndrome and all had beautiful healthy children.

I know this isn't quite the same, but at 18 my doc told me I had a problem with my uteris and could never conceive and even if I did I would die during birth due to my heart! I now have a beautiful 18 month old! I had a few complications during pregnancy and he was 4 weeks preme but he is healthy and I am doing just fine. My point is docs aren't always right get 2nd and sometimes 3rd opinions! Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't fulfill your dreams!!

I am so happy to read all the post because just last week my doc told me I had pcos and I was so upset but he never told me that I wouldn't be able to have children but I just thought he didn't want to tell me the truth and ruin my day, but I guess not. But I have been having problems sexually. I can't get wet or have and orgasm. Can it be due to the hormonal imbalance? The doc did prescribe me Provera can this help me get back on balance? Help me I'm losing my mind sex is horrible and painful and it's not my partner it's me. What can I do?

It's going to be harder for you than most (maybe) to get pregnant. But I have to agree with whoever said you need to smack your doctor for telling you that lie. I have pcos and have had it since I was 13 yrs old and was just diagnosed professionally in August.(I am now 22) It's a much harder road, but you can get pregnant and have a successful pregnancy. I haven't YET but anything is possible. I think you should switch doctors or go to a fertility specialist or endocrinologist. I wish I could punch that dr. in the face. I also believe that you need to go online and research pcos. Go on forums and talk to the women there. You are most definitely not alone. Even if you would like to talk to me, that would be fine.
