    OS in networked computers
    Is it necessary for all the computers in a home network to have the same operating system? My laptop n desktop have different OS, so I have problem in remote connections... help!! :(

    What OSes are you referring to? Windows, Linux, Mac OSX? I'm assuming your problem is sharing files between the systems. Correct?

    I can say that you can share files just fine between Win98, WinME, and XP. If you want to share files between Linux and Windows, you'll have to run Samba/CIFS on Linux so that your Windoze boxes can see the files. I also assume this would apply to OSX.

    What Vista version do you have? It is not an option that is included with the Home and Business versions of Vista.

    HOWEVER, do not give up on Remote Desktop to Vista Home. Follow the steps in the following link. Download the files, click on your Command Prompt and select RUN AS and select the Administrator user. DO NOT select another user with Administrator permissions. YOU MUST select the Administrator user. Run the batch file for your version of Vista.
