    Shift Lock Mechanism
I have a 1998 Nissan Sentra with an automatic transmission. It appears that the shift lock mechansim is failing. Whenever I am driving and the car is in any gear and I step on the brake the shift lock solenoid energizes and I hear a click. Other wise the shift lock works correctly, it keeps me from shifting out of park unless I step on the brake. I read the Haynes manual and it might be the Park Position Switch that tis broke. But the manual is not clear on where it is or where the electrical connector is or how to check it. Can anyone help?

Doesn't sound like there's a problem to me. If you can get out of Park only when the brake is on, then everything's in working order.
