Current tenant apt being forclosed. Help please
I have read other scenarios similar 2 mine and tha answers. (he only difference with my problem is its and effect now. I received a letter and tha mail addressed to the heirs and legatees of my lanlord. I assumed that would be me so I opened it and it read Notice of Sale. Said there will be an auction on Sept 9, 2008 to the highest bidder. I called the number on the paper and the lady told me the info was correct and it will be confirmed on Sep 29, 2008. And that I would have estimated till about Nov. to leave but I will get a letter and the mail with xact info. My lanlord doesn't know that I know about this and has called 2 c when he can picki up the rent money. I have from the first till the fifth 2 pay rent. People are telling me 2 hold off on rent. My lease wasn't suppose to be up till Dec. Can I hold off on rent till nov? So I can save up and get out?

As long as you are in his house then you owe him rent and still have to pay. Be honest with him and tell you you received a notice of sale and go from there. Ask him what he is going to do. You can't hold off on rent.

First off... you should have never opened mail that was not address to you. This is a federal offense. You are not an heir or a legaltee.

Second, Tickle is right, you need to pay rent to the owner until and if the property is sold/foreclosed.

The lanlord and I has had past altercations since my roommate and I are young he has ben trying 2 get over on us. I don't know tha laws and rules but I thought if its being 4closed then the lanlord hasn't ben doing his job right and doesn't own it anymore and if he does then its only till the 9th.
